WEST WING ROCKED BY DEATH: Writers and producers for NBC's The West Wing, which is dark for the holidays, will convene this week to discuss how to handle the death of John Spencer, who was suddenly felled by a heart attack on Friday at the age of 58. Leo McGarry, whom Spencer has played since the series' 1999 debut, figures in this season's central story line as the running mate of presidential candidate Matt Santos (Jimmy Smits).
